White Albino Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis)

A rare 1 in 100,000 white albino squirrel captured at Pinchinthorpe Woods near Guisborough. The white squirrel is a true albino and as such has poor eyesight and hearing which makes it vulnerable as prey to such predators as birds of prey and foxes. White albino squirrels tend to be found in groups so if you are lucky enough to see one you may catch a glimpse of another nearby. They feed on acorns, shoots, flowers, nuts, roots and cereals and bury surplus food below the soil or in tree hollows.
