Monday 15th September
I've just added a few Kite
Surfing pictures taken on a very, very cold day in March
2007. A sport which I've been meaning to go back and
photograph when it's lovely and sunny but have yet to get
round to it. Anyway, click
HERE to go directly to the
page.
Well that's about it for now,
another 8 days or so to go here offshore before I head back
home again to take some more pictures. |

Saturday 13th September
Hot of the press, a monotone
image taken at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Station in
Goathland. The last train of the day steams off southbound
to Pickering whilst the other heads north to Grosmont.
Whilst out here I've also been
processing and updating the
Cleveland Model Helicopter
website with Tim Cossins photographs from the Tees-side
airshow, BMFA Nationals, Rufforth LMA airshow and the 3D
Masters model helicopter competition. I'll get these web
pages uploaded when I get home.

Friday 12th September
Here's a couple of
recently processed pictures taken from one of the hides at the
Washington Wildfowl and Wetland Trust. A Male Bullfinch and a
Female Great Spotted Woodpecker with some nice backlighting. I've
uploaded various new pictures to the
wildlife pages including more
Finches, Heron, Robin, Ducks and a Bluetit. Back to work so bye
for now....

Monday 8th September
Well back at work
offshore after my two weeks field break. Unfortunately I didn't
get up to much due to the usual lousy UK weather. I did get to
Washington Wildfowl and Wetland Centre for a day and visited a few
other small places so keep an eye out here for a few of those
images over the next couple of weeks as I process them.
Thursday 21st August
Happy Birthday to
me! Well processed a few pictures from our recent trip to
Derbyshire and here's a coupe of shots from the National Trusts
Hardwick Hall just off the M1 motorway. Something I've passed
countless times but never visited. A beautiful old mansion house
with countless tapestries and gardens full of flowers and herbs.
Well only a few more days left at work and then I'll be heading
back home so keep an eye out here for the latest images.

First of all apologies for anyone
who has tried to contact me by e-mail as for some reason I
seem to be having problems with sending and receiving mail.
I'm offshore at the moment and in between work I've been
processing my Kenya photographs. They are now all uploaded so
check out the latest on my
Kenya web page in the
Wildlife section. I've also
added an entire page of
Lions,
Cheetah,
Elephants and
Zebra along with adding a few
other pictures to my
Landscape,
Portrait and my favourite
Kingfishers page.
So here you are an amazingly cute
young Lion cub taken just before it bounced off to find it's
mum! |

Monday 4th August
Spent the majority
of last week in Derbyshire with Clare visiting a few National
Trust properties around the area. Our trip culminated with the
wedding of our friends Sarah and Chris on Saturday 2nd of August
at Holmesfield Church. So congratulations to the couple who are
heading off to Ozz for their honeymoon.
Also big thanks to the official wedding photographer,
Jeanette Dawson for letting me
try her 15mm fisheye lens at the reception and generally not
getting too peeved that I was snapping away too! Can't wait to see
the final pictures of the day.
Here's the happy couple in the church during the ceremony. Watch
this space for the rest of the pictures of the big day.....

Just arrived back from a
fantastic trip to Kenya, visiting the Samburu, Lake Nakuru
and the Masai Mara Reserves. Here's the first of many
pictures that i'll start uploading over the next few weeks
as I get round to processing them. A pair of Cheetah on the
lookout taken on one of the first game drives of the trip.
Finally, many thanks to everyone on the trip and to our
driver and guide Adoyo for making it such a fun experience.
Hope you all enjoyed it as much as Clare and myself!
I'm now heading to the 3D
Masters Radio Controlled Helicopter competition in
Northampton this weekend so hopefully should get some shots
there if the weather is better than last year. |
Sunday 13th July
Well that's it for
the time being as I'm out of here tomorrow with Clare to Kenya on
safari. Following on straight after that it's the
3D Masters Model Helicopter
Championships in Northampton. I'll update the blog when I get
back, until then.... byeeee...
Friday 11th July
I've just posted a
new
Show Jumping Page with pictures
taken from this weeks Great Yorkshire Show at the Harrogate
Showground. Had a look around there on Wednesday and I have to say
it's not cheap at £20 for a ticket to get in and then if you want
to get into the grandstand you have to pay more and don't even get
me started on the cost of food once you are in the showground.
Let's just say I wasn't too chuffed with what they charged for a
small lunch for two people, I could have gone out to a restaurant
for dinner instead! I don't think i'll be going back but if I do
I'll be taking a packed lunch with me. Anyway, enough of my
complaining....

I also got a few
pictures of the models at the fashion show whilst I was there so
take a look on my
Portraits Page to see them.
Unfortunately taken without a flash and up to 1600 ISO so not the
greatest of quality because of the inherent noise (even with the
1D Mk3) but you've got to make do with the gear you've got at the
time!
Monday 7th July
Last weeks Farne
Island trip Puffin pictures are finally processed and on the
website so click
here to see the latest. These
birds really are fantastic to watch flying backwards and forwards
right past you with a bill stuffed full of Sand Eels to feed their
hungry chicks. Unfortunately UK populations are declining rapidly
due to the decreasing amounts of Sand Eels for them to feed on.

Yesterday I went to
the
Andy Rouse and
Joe Cornish Inner Visions talk at
Hartlepool Town Hall Theatre and all I can say is what a wonderful
afternoon Clare and myself spent listening to these two World
Class Photographers. Covering everything from their start out in
photography right to their present day often award winning
pictures. Some simply awesome slideshows and musical pieces showed
the passion they have for their subjects as they discussed
everything from composition through to lighting. As is usual from
one of these talk's it was very humorous and informal with
questions coming from the audience during the regular breaks on
all aspects of their photography. If you have never been to
a talk by either Andy or Joe I can only urge you to go as it
really is something not to be missed and with proceeds going
towards their
Aspira Conservation Fund you
really have no excuse! I certainly look forward to seeing them
again up here in the North East of England.

Visited 'Joe Cornish country'
yesterday around Great Ayton, Roseberry Topping, Aireyholme
Farm Pond and Newton Woods to take some landscape shots.
After a nice start to the day the clouds gathered but I
managed to get a few decent shots using my Sigma 12-24mm
lens so have a look on my
Landscape Page. Definitely
somewhere to return to when we get some good light at
sunset.
Tomorrow I'm heading back to the
Farne Islands to hopefully get some more Puffin shots so
watch this space. Bye for now! |

Monday 30th June 2008
Spent the entire
weekend at the Hartlepool BMX track, Summerhill for the 2008
British Cycling BMX National Championships Round Seven. Lots of
adrenaline pumped action from ages 10 and under to 40 and over!
Two pages of photographs from the event can be seen by simply
clicking
here.

Towards the end of last week I visited
Gateshead's River Derwent Valley with Tim to try and spot the Red
Kites that are in the area. Two chicks had just recently been
tagged so the parents were flying backwards and forwards to the
nest with food to feed them. In another three weeks or so they
should leave the nest and venture into the big wide world.
Unfortunately however the weather was fairly overcast and when
they did fly they soon disappeared. No great photo opportunities
arose but here's one shot that was taken at some distance for you
to see these wonderful birds of prey.

To find out more about the River
Derwent's Red Kite Project visit the
Northern Kites website.

I just had to post
this stunning picture taken by my friend Tim Cossins at Port
Lympne Wild Animal Park in Kent this last weekend. Taken with his
Canon 40D and 500mm f4 lens. Tim went with Photographers on Safari
and he highly recommends them. Check out their website at
www.photographersonsafari.com for
further details.

Tuesday 24th June 2008
Just goes to show
that things don't have to be exotic to make good pictures. I shot
this Collared Dove through the loft window when it was perched on
the neighbours garage roof. The colourful background Bokeh really
makes the bird stand out.

After lots of
Kingfisher action late last week I spotted what looked like a
juvenile yesterday. Since then things have been very quiet down at
the river with only a couple of fly by sightings today and no
picture opportunities. I spent pretty much the entire day there
watching and waiting today and all I came back with was a severe
case of hay fever!

Sunday 22nd June
2008
Last week was a
busy week for me now that I'm back home from work offshore. I
visited Ladies Day at Ripon races and had my first attempts at
shooting at the Horse Races. Not an easy task I've got to say and
I think I need more practice so will be visiting again in the
future. Check out the resulting pictures of both horses and hats
here.

The Kingfishers
appear to have bred and both a male and female have been seen
in the area. Hopefully the youngsters will make an appearance at
some stage in the next few weeks. Keep an eye out here for updates.
I also had one of my Jetski pictures published in the local Gazette this weekend from
the recent JSRA championships on the River Tees. Again, check out
my pictures
here.

The Blog is finally
underway to keep you posted on what's going on here at Darren
Clark Photography.
